How do I get from the airport to the conference location?

The Skybus will take you from Melbourne Airport to Southern Cross Station, which is right in the middle of Melbourne’s CBD. From here, you can catch a train to Glenferrie Station (which is on the Lilydale, Belgrave and Alamein train lines). Alternatively, there are always plenty of taxis available at Melbourne Airport. A taxi ride should be approximately 40 minutes, depending on traffic.

How do I submit an abstract?

The extended call for abstracts closed on July 01, 2016. However, there will always be opportunities for ad hoc presentations. Please submit any such inquiries directly to the conference co-Chair, Chris Berndt via Include a title, authors and main presenter, an abstract of no more than 250 words, and the proposed Symposium where you best fit. This extended opportunity is provided so that CAMS2016 best serves the professional community.

Is the conference close to other Melbourne attractions?

Absolutely. Swinburne University is located in one of Melbourne’s bustling inner city suburbs: Hawthorn. You can either explore the sights of Hawthorn itself, or take a quick 10 minute tram or train ride directly into the centre of Melbourne’s CBD.

What sort of weather should I expect?

Melbourne weather is infamous for its unpredictability but you can expect warm days and comfortable nights during December. Bring an umbrella or a raincoat just in case an unexpected downpour occurs during your visit but for the most part it should be beautiful and sunny.

What will be the themes of the 2016 conference?

The conference will cover a variety of themes across a range of areas of materials engineering, science and technology. The themes will be dedicated to exploring the latest advances in their respective disciplines, covering areas such as light metals, innovative building materials, nanostructure materials and interfaces and much more.

Who is CAMS?

CAMS is the Combined Advanced Materials Society, which has also incorporated Materials Australia and the Australian Ceramic Society who will serve as conference hosts for the 2016 conference. All of these societies are dedicated to the advancement of materials in the science, engineering and technology sectors.
